The Nantucket Lightship Basket has roots in the 1800s, when sailors stationed on lightships off Nantucket began weaving during long months at sea. The original baskets were topped with ivory lids etched with unique designs—little works of art at sea. We’ve reimagined that moment in Nantucket history, combining two crafts that have long defined the island: basket weaving and needlepoint.
Our stitchable self-finishing lid lets you swap ivory for colorful thread, creating a modern heirloom that’s entirely your own.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this basket will be donated to the Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum in support of its preservation and educational efforts.
